School Resource Deputies

In partnership with the Volusia County School Board, the School Resource Deputy (SRD) Program assigns full-time Deputy Sheriffs to work with high schools and middle schools in Volusia County.

Schools under the jurisdiction of municipal police departments are staffed by School Resource Officers from those agencies. 

SRDs and SROs are responsible for law enforcement, mentoring, classroom teaching, and providing a positive role model for the students.
