T/L- 08/01/25 @ 2122 hours.  D1 unlawfully entered the back screened in porch of the LOI.  V1's dog began barking which resulted in V1 observing D1 on the porch.  D1 fled from the scene on foot, jumping the fence which separated his (D1's) house from V1's residence.  D1 was subsequently taken into custody for the applicable offense and taken to VCBJ.

Deputies responded to Pinello Funeral Home reference V1 having been found with a self torniquet tied on his leg.  Upon further investigation, he also had to puncture wounds to his torso.  V1 was uncooperative with deputies and would not provide any details on what occurred.  He also advised he did not want to pursue charges.  V1 was transported to 704 for medical treatment with non-life threatening injuries.  Deputies canvassed the area and were unable to locate any crime scene.  Known transient camps were also checked, which yielded negative results for any additional information. The watch commander was aware. Case status: Active.

Deputies responded to the LOI in reference to a shooting.  Upon the deputies’ arrival, a blue in color 2019 GMC pickup, was observed fleeing the parking lot.  Deputies conducted a traffic stop and discovered the pickup was being driven by D1 with W1 as a passenger.  Investigation revealed that while exiting the establishment, D1 was confronted by an unknown Hispanic male who wished to fight D1.  The fight was broken up by a security guard for the establishment, V1.  As D1 was walking back to his truck, V1 feared D1 might be retrieving a firearm, so V1 followed D1 to the truck.  As D1 was reaching into the truck, V1 observed D1 grabbing a black in color handgun.  V1 confronted D1 and D1 fired several shots into the air and ordered V1 to get back, which V1 did.  D1 then pointed the handgun at the unknown Hispanic male that beat him up and fired several shots into the air then got into the GMC pickup and departed the area.  Deputies recovered several shell casings in the area of where D1’s truck was parked.  D1 was placed under arrest and the GMC pickup was towed to evidence.

D1 became upset while she was attending classes at DJJ. She threw her laptop, belonging to Volusia County Schools, across the room, then ripped the screen off of it. D1 was charged with criminal mischief.

The family's two year old Great Dane opened V1's bedroom door and jumped up on the bed.  V1 has a laceration to the face and was trauma alerted to Advent Daytona (703).  V1 was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  VC Animal Control, CID and the watch commander responded to the scene.  The district COC was aware.

S1 entered the establishment and began to put items into a black bag. He then took the bag and walked out of the store without paying. He avoided touching the door by bumping it open with his hips. S1 made off with a total of $313.50 worth of goods. Employees advised they would not be able to identify him since they did not see his face. An NC4 bulletin was disseminated.
