V1 attempted to get her phone and call 911, however D1 picked up her phone and smashed it on the ground, he then used both hands to choke V1. V1 sustained injuries and was cleared by paramedics on scene. Deputies located D1 and he was arrested for DV Battery by Strangulation, Tampering with a Witness and Criminal Mischief.

Deputies quickly located D1, who was taken into custody and arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. Deputy Westfall was driving westbound on Howland Blvd near Kumpula Dr and had his moving radar on. He observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and maneuvering through traffic. Deputy Westfall's radar had a reading of 103mph in a 45mph speed zone. Deputy Westfall was able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle in the CVS parking lot at Elkcam Blvd and Howland Blvd where contact was made with D1. As D1 was being secured, V1 (5 years old) was observed in the backseat with no type of car seat or booster seat. D1 was taken into custody and charged with Child neglect, excessive speed 50+mph and reckless driving. Director Quann was notified.

Deputies were canvassing the area for a suspicious person, who was later arrested on unrelated charges, (VSO Case #260011436) when they observed the Ace Hardware located at 2840 Elkcam Blvd., Deltona, appeared to have new damage. Deputies noted multiple damaged or destroyed exterior parts, along with trash scattered across the front of the business. Attempts to contact a responder were unsuccessful. Deputies will need to follow up during business hours to assess the extent of the damage, obtain video surveillance, and determine whether the business wishes to pursue charges. Deputies have potential leads on a suspect based on information from another call.

V1 contacted law enforcement because D1 called multiple times after being released from jail on 05/28/2026. His arrest stemmed from a domestic disturbance that occurred in Seminole County on 05/25/2026. V1 stated there is an active no contact order related to the previous incident and was advised to report the violations. D1 currently resides out of county, so a pass-along affidavit was completed.

Deputies located D1 walking out of the lobby and apprehended D1. Deputies determined D1 to be the primary aggressor and was subsequently transported to the VCBJ.

Deputies arrived on scene and were made aware they had identified S1 and S2 from prior incidents and stated they had recovered all the items aside from a bluetooth speaker valued at $344.00; Deputy Metz completed a pass along affidavit for S1 and S2.

At that time D1 approached V1 from behind and placed her into a choke hold. The pressure placed on her neck/ throat was significant enough to cut off her airway, making it impossible for her to breathe. V1 passed out and was rendered unconscious. D1 left the residence for work. D1 was later located at his place of employment in DeBary and taken into custody.
