R1 discovered the skid steer loader missing from the construction site at 329 Ruby Ave., Deland. The vehicle belongs to V1 and was last seen at the property on 4/10 at approximately 1600 hours.

R1 stated the key was not left with it. All employees advised they did not move it or use it. The vehicle was orange and nobody had permission to remove it from the property. 

The skid steer was entered into FCIC/NCIC.

V-1 and D-1 are husband and wife and reside together as a family unit. V-1 and D-1 got into a verbal argument that escalated when D-1 struck V-1 in the face with a closed fist.

V-1 then exited the residence and contacted law enforcement. V-1 had injuries consistent with her statement. D-1 admitted to the offense and was subsequently placed under arrest.

V1 was last seen alive around 1730 hours. V1 has a medical history of COPD and drug usage. Witnesses on scene advised he smoked crack earlier in the day and paraphernalia was located in the immediate vicinity of the deceased. Preliminary investigation showed no signs of foul play.

CID was notified and responded. NOK responded while units were on scene.

The Crime Suppression Team concentrated enforcement efforts in the area of S.R. 44 and Shell Rd. in response to recent car breaks in the area.  CST conducted more than 10 traffic and suspect stops and contacted at least 15 citizens during the shift. 

Additionally, CST conducted surveillance of a residence and assisted patrol with several calls during periods of high call volume.

V1 and D1 are in a relationship and reside together as a family unit. V1 is currently 4 weeks’ pregnant and D1 is aware.

V1 and D1 got into a verbal altercation which escalated when D1 threw a potted plant and attempted to throw a chair at V1. V1 was able to move prior to getting hit.

No one was injured. D1 was arrested and charged appropriately.
