Deltona man arrested for sexual relationship with teen girl, additional charges sought

A 31-year-old Deltona man was arrested Sunday for having a sexual relationship with an underage girl.  

Detectives with the Child Exploitation Unit began their investigation in June when it was reported Almonte was having an inappropriate relationship with the underage victim. A search warrant uncovered thousands of text messages between the victim and Almonte referencing sexual activities including skipping school to have sex and the need to keep information private. 

The victim reported 10 sexual encounters with Almonte between May 19, 2026, and the beginning of June. 
Almonte was taken into custody yesterday and charged with four counts of the lewd and lascivious battery of a victim between the ages of 12 – 16 along with resisting arrest. Almonte is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on a $200,500 bond. 

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives are seeking additional charges against Almonte for sexual contact with another teen girl.
