DeBary Woman Found Unresponsive In Apartment Complex Pool

DEBARY WOMAN FOUND UNRESPONSIVE IN APARTMENT COMPLEX POOL

A 68-year-old DeBary woman has died after she was found unresponsive in the community pool at the Integra 289 Exchange apartment complex.

Deputies, fire and EMS responded to 115 Integra Reserve Lane around 10:30 a.m. Thursday after a witness on a nearby balcony spotted what appeared to be a person floating in the pool. When he went to investigate, he pulled the victim out of the water and began CPR until rescue arrived on scene.

The victim, Joanne Poole, regained a pulse and was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. However, she was unable to recover and passed away Thursday afternoon.

Detectives obtained video surveillance footage that showed the victim get into the pool alone. She began to struggle shortly after entering the water.

There were no suspicious circumstances; the official cause of death is pending completion of an autopsy. The Sheriff's Office sends its sincere condolences to family members and friends.
