2 ARRESTED IN ROAD-RAGE SHOOTING IN MIMS

Two Brevard County men have been arrested in the road-rage shooting of an SUV carrying a couple and three children.

Deputies responded to the shooting in the Mims area around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. The victims reported they were traveling east on State Road 46 when a black Dodge pickup started tailgating them. The truck ultimately passed them, forced them halfway off the road, cut them off and came to a stop in front of them. Two men got out of the truck and fired several shots at the victims’ vehicle.

The couple had three children, ages 6, 4, and 18 months, in the back seat of the SUV at the time. Deputies observed 9 bullet holes in the vehicle as well as a shattered front passenger window. Fortunately, no one was injured. The events were confirmed by independent witnesses who were interviewed by detectives.

After firing several shots, the suspects got back in their truck and left the scene. The victims called 911 and followed at a distance as the truck headed into Brevard County, where Brevard County sheriff’s deputies located it and conducted a felony traffic stop.

The shooters, 45-year-old driver Chad Morrow (DOB 2/27/1979) of Cocoa, and 52-year-old passenger Chad McAninch (DOB 2/29/1972) of Port St. John, were taken into custody and each charged with 2 counts of attempted murder and 3 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
