SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
On October 30th, 2019 the Port Orange Police made random checks on registered sex offenders within the city of Port Orange. The random checks were to verify the registered offenders were in compliance with their city ordinance or state mandated restrictions. As a result, 7 sex offenders to include 2 sexual predators were arrested for violations.
October 31st, 2019 the Port Orange Police Criminal Investigations obtained search warrants after discovering suspicious items at the residence of Courtney Brown, black, male dob 06/22/1977 during the verification checks. The execution of the search warrants led to the discovery that Courtney Brown had in his possession over 20 sexually explicit images of children. Courtney Brown was immediately charged with this finding and a $100,000.00 bond was assessed. Several additional items were retrieved from the home for further review and determination of additional criminal charges.
