Police Respond To Traffic Fatality On Dunlawton Avenue

POLICE RESPOND TO TRAFFIC FATALITY ON DUNLAWTON AVENUE

On December 31, 2016 at approximately 08:30 PM, the Port Orange Police Department responded to the 1700 Block of Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange; in reference to a two vehicle traffic crash. A white Dodge was traveling west on Dunlawton Avenue and a black Honda was traveling east on Dunlawton Avenue and attempted to make a left hand turn in front of the white Dodge causing the two vehicles to collide. Upon arriving on scene, officers discovered the driver and passenger of the black Honda had suffered serious injuries, due to the crash. The driver of the Black Honda was transported to the hospital in critical condition and the passenger had succumbed to injuries sustained from the crash and was pronounced dead on scene by Fire Rescue. The driver of the white Dodge was transported the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver and passenger of the black Honda are not being identified at this time, pending next of kin notification. The Port Orange Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to the scene and are actively working this investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this traffic crash is asked to contact Officer Brian Johnson at 386-506-5838.
