PORT ORANGE OFFICER STRUCK BY FLEEING VEHCILE

At approximately 3:30 a.m. this morning, a Port Orange Police Officer was struck by a fleeing vehicle while attempting to deploy a tire deflation device on Madeline Ave. near the intersection of Clyde Morris Blvd. The Officer has been transported to Halifax Hospital - Daytona Beach in stable condition with multiple non-life threatening injuries. The driver, a 16 y/o Daytona Beach resident, was arrested after crashing near the intersection of Ridgewood Ave. and Nova Rd. in Port Orange, FL.

Moments earlier, while on patrol at The Pavilion at Port Orange, an officer observed what appeared to be a suspicious vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle then proceeded to flee at a high rate of speed (est. 80-100+ mph) throughout the city of Port Orange. Multiple criminal charges are pending at this time…
