REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED AFTER EXPOSING HIMSELF TO A CHILD IN THE PORT ORANGE WAL-MART

On July 14th, 2016 at approximately 1502hrs officers of the Port Orange Police Department were attempting to execute an arrest on registered sex offender, Phillip Heidt at his residence of 1100 Greenbriar Ave. Port Orange. Phillip Heidt was positively identified as the suspect in a sex offense reported on July 13th, 2016 to the Port Orange Police. On July 12th, 2016 Phillip Heidt was in the Walmart store at 1590 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange and had exposed his genitalia to an 11 yoa female while standing in an aisle with her. After an investigation charges were prepared for the arrest of Phillip Heidt for Lewd and Lascivious Act on a minor under 16.

During the attempted arrest of Phillip Heidt he had fled in a vehicle, running over an officer’s foot causing minor injury. The officer was treated on scene. Phillip Heidt continued to flee from officers attempting to stop his vehicle. Phillip Heidt fled from his vehicle on foot near Village Trail and Country Lane into a wooded area. After a search conducted by Port Orange Officers, Port Orange K-9 and Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter, Phillip Heidt was located and arrested. Phillip Heidt was additionally charged with Fleeing and Eluding and Resisting an Officer without Violence.
