Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Accident

POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT

On Friday November 27th, 2020 at approximately 5:54 PM, Orange City Police Department and Fire Rescue responded to S Volusia Ave and W Ohio Ave in reference to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene and found a single pedestrian in the southbound shoulder of S Volusia Ave and a vehicle into the parking lot of 911 S Volusia Ave. The pedestrian, later identified as 82-year-old Louis Jeanty of Orange City, was taken to Advent Health Hospital and was later pronounced deceased by emergency room staff. The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries. South Volusia Ave (southbound lanes) was shut down at West Ohio Ave for approximately 3 hours due to the investigation.

The Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and took custody of the body. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted.
