THE THIRD ANNUAL BICYCLE SAFTEY RODEO SCHEUDLED THIS SUNDAY

Every year there are countless injuries related to bicycle accidents.  The City of Orange City believes it is of the utmost importance to focus on safety of our children.  Bicycle rodeos are a means of raising community and parent awareness regarding bicycle related injuries, testing bicycle skills, providing an opportunity for children to learn proper bicycle techniques and for the proper use of safety equipment, such as helmets, lighting, etc.

The Orange City Police Department will be sponsoring the 3rd annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo scheduled for Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 starting at 1:00 p.m.  The event will be held at the Orange City Elementary School (555 E. University Avenue, Orange City, FL), and is for students in grades 1-5. The Police Department’s Bike Patrol Unit will be on hand educating the participants with the proper bicycle rules and safe riding techniques. Bicycles and helmets will be provided to participants who require said equipment.

Additionally, the Orange City Police Department will assist approximately 25 Cub Scouts from Pack 420 of Orange City to earn their achievement badges during this event.

The Orange City Police Department takes pride in promoting bicycle safety for the children of our community. For additional information regarding this event, please contact Sergeant Rolly Cavida at (306) 851-7561 or at rcavida@ourorangecity.com
