DELAND MAN ARRESTED IN DECEMBER SHOOTING INCIDENT AT APPLEWOOD APARTMENTS

A DeLand man was arrested Wednesday in connection to an apparent drug deal that ended with a shooting.

Shawn Davis, 21, is charged with aggravated battery on a person using a deadly weapon, robbery with a firearm and burglary while armed. He is in the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond allowed.

Police responded December 13 to the parking lot of Applewood Apartments after locating a man, identified as Noel Pease, who had driven to a 7-Eleven convenience store after being shot in the arm. An investigation determined that Pease was shot during a drug deal.

After speaking to witnesses and based on evidence found at the scene, Davis was identified as the shooter.

On Wednesday, as police were responding to an unrelated call an officer identified a man who matched Davis’ description. As the officer approached the vehicle, a woman later identified as Shawn Davis’ sister, Jazzmyne, got out of the vehicle, activated the alarm and walked away.

Then Shawn Davis got out of the car and fled after the officer commanded him to stop. He was taken into custody a short time later.

Jazzmyne Davis, 23, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact. She remains in the Volusia County Branch Jail with a $5,000 bond.
