10 Codes
Effective 6/1/07, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, in accordance with Homeland Security requirements, began the transition to “plain speak” by no longer using 10-codes. There are a few exceptions to this, which are in bold above so that officer safety would not be compromised.
Because 10-codes and signals are essential another language, it is advisable to still learn those that are no longer used as well since there may be instances when they are spoken out of habit.
