VSO DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING DEATH OF 2-YEAR-OLD GIRL
Orange City Family Found Daughter Left in Their Car After Lunchtime Trip

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child whose parents discovered she had been left in the family’s hot car Thursday and rushed her to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The Orange City family told detectives they left their Highland Drive home and went to lunch in DeLand. They returned home about 2:40 p.m. with the child and two older brothers, ages 15 and 8.

Around 5 p.m., the girl’s parents found her unresponsive still in the car and drove her to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased just before 6 p.m.

The circumstances of the child’s death are under active investigation by the Volusia Sheriff’s Major Case Unit. More information will be released when it becomes available.
