ORANGE CITY MAN, 40, CHARGED WITH POSSESSING CHILD PORN,
TRANSMITTING HARMFUL MATERIAL TO YOUNG GIRLS

Volusia Sheriff’s detectives have arrested an Orange City man and charged him with possessing child pornography and transmitting harmful material to minors after an investigation showed he communicated graphic sexual messages to young girls online.

In addition, several sexually explicit videos and photos of children were discovered on his cell phone.

Adam Morris, 40 (DOB 11/15/1982) was arrested Friday night at home on seven counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, three counts of transmitting harmful material to minors and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

He remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $110,000 bail.

In addition, Morris was arrested on a warrant for a separate DeLand Police case for one count each: transmitting harmful material and use of a two-way communications device to commit a felony. That bail is $20,000.

The four-month investigation began after the mother of a 16-year-old victim filed a sex offense complaint with the Sheriff’s Office in January. The victim provided screen shots of several inappropriate text messages that Morris had sent the victim through Facebook Messenger.

Detectives executed search warrants for Morris’ Facebook account and tracked at least three additional juvenile victims, including one who said she was 12.

On April 5, sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant at Morris’ home, 1440 E. Minnesota Ave., lot D, Orange City. Detectives seized his cell phone for forensic examination and located several videos and photos of sexual exploitation of girls estimated to range from 5 to 11 years old.

At this time, it’s believed that Morris has not manufactured child pornography but has downloaded material onto his electronic devices that was shared from or with others.

Due to the nature of the materials found, the Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public of this case. Anyone who may have more information is asked to contact the VSO Child Exploitation Unit at (386) 323-3574.
