SKELETAL REMAINS FOUND IN WOODS NEAR DELTONA PARK

Skeletal human remains were found Tuesday evening in a small makeshift campsite in a wooded area near Veterans Memorial Park in Deltona.

Deputies responded to the park at 1921 Evard Ave. just before 6 p.m. Tuesday after two park visitors went down a path into the woods and discovered the remains, which were surrounded by blankets, bags and other items consistent with a campsite of a transient person.

While there were no immediate indications of foul play, the investigation will continue. Positive identification of the deceased is pending.
