FOLLOW-UP LEADS TO NEW CHARGES FOR DELAND SEXUAL PREDATOR

A registered sexual predator is back behind bars on new charges after follow-up from the VSO Career Criminal Unit led to the discovery of child pornography on an unregistered phone.

On Wednesday, detectives began an investigation into 35-year-old Brad A. Perry (DOB 11/16/1988), DeLand, after receiving a tip about an unregistered Facebook account.

In Florida, registered sexual offenders and predators are required by law to register not only their address, but all social media accounts, phone numbers, vehicles, workplaces and more.

While investigating the tip, detectives also discovered Perry had a cell phone, job and vehicle that weren’t registered.

Detectives also determined Perry had given his unregistered cell number to a 17-year-old girl.

Upon obtaining a search warrant for the phone, detectives discovered several other unreported social media accounts, as well as multiple explicit images depicting children from the ages of infancy to 10 years old.

Perry was charged Wednesday with 4 counts of failure to properly register as a sexual predator, then arrested again today on 5 additional counts of that charge, plus 30 counts of possession of child pornography.

Great job by the Career Criminal Unit, the Child Exploitation Unit and the citizen who called in the tip!
