Victim, 73, Dies of Injuries A Day Later

A 73-year-old Deltona woman died Sunday night from injuries she suffered after being struck by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk across Saxon Boulevard in Deltona.

The victim, Mary Green, was walking east across Saxon on Saturday at 7:35 p.m. when she was struck by a sport utility vehicle that was turning left onto Saxon from Normandy Boulevard. Sheriff’s detectives observed the intersection was dimly lit and the victim was wearing dark clothing.

The victim was airlifted to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford where she succumbed from her injuries Sunday night, with family members present.

The crash is being investigated by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit.
