VCSO CLEANING UP STREETS OF DELAND: DRUG BUY-BUST OPERATION NETS SEVERAL ARRESTS

A proactive drug buy/bust Volusia County Sheriff’s Office operation in the city of DeLand and surrounding area resulted in the arrests of a dozen people Thursday, with others arrested in the days leading up to the operation, and others still to be picked up on arrest warrants for sale and delivery of narcotics.

Members of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office West Volusia Narcotics Task Force, along with members of the Deltona Narcotics Enforcement Team and West Volusia and East Side Crime Suppression Teams, worked with detectives to conduct undercover purchases of drugs in areas where open sale of narcotics has been a recurring issue.

Those arrested as a result of Thursday’s operation were:

Darious L. Gardner, 31 (DOB 9/1/1988) *first arrest video clip
Sale and delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park
Possession of cannabis with intent to sell

Bobby J. Barber, 48 (DOB 8/13/1970) *second arrest video clip
Sale and delivery of cocaine

Anthony Q. Knight, 51 (DOB 3/13/1968)
Sale and delivery of cocaine

Charles Turner, 36 (DOB 9/30/1982)
Sale and delivery of a schedule II substance

Willie A. Smith, 53 (DOB 12/7/1965)
Sale and delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park
Possession of crack cocaine
Possession of drug paraphernalia

Kandi F. Bernsdorf, 48 (DOB 10/16/1970)
Possession of cocaine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Violation of probation re: possession of cocaine

Angela M. Carlone, 40 (DOB 3/6/1979)
Possession of Suboxone
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Driving while license suspended

Olaodah A. Pryce, 33 (DOB 10/15/1985)
Possession of hash oil
Possession of cannabis under 20g
Possession of drug paraphernalia

Horace A. Bryan, 40 (DOB 03/01/1979)
Possession of cannabis under 20g

Patrick R. Rose, 33 (DOB 04/12/1986)
Possession of cannabis under 20g

A search warrant executed at Fearless International Motor Corp. at 636 S. Spring Garden Avenue resulted in the seizure of:

17 grams MDMA
1 gram hash oil
3 grams cannabis
Raven Arms 25 Caliber semi-auto pistol
Drug paraphernalia

Those arrested on non-drug-related charges during Thursday’s operation were:

Richard K. Smith, 29 (DOB 1/14/1990) *third arrest video clip
(Fled from an attempted traffic stop and exited his vehicle while it was still in drive, leaving it to cross S.R. 44 and crash into a power pole.)
Fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement
Driving while license suspended or revoked
Resisting arrest without violence

Driving while license suspended or revoked

The prior narcotics investigations leading up to Thursday’s operation yielded charges against an additional 13 individuals for a variety of narcotics charges. Five of those are active arrest warrants for suspects still outstanding.
