Police Investigate Structure Fire

On September 8, 2020 at approximately 1424 hours Port Orange Police Department Detectives located Raymond Garneau, 51, at the Super 8 located at 1634 US 1, Ormond Beach. Garneau was taken into custody without incident on the arrest warrants obtained. Garneau was transported to the Port Orange Police Department for processing and then to the Volusia County Branch Jail under a no bond status.


POLICE INVESTIGATE STRUCTURE FIRE

On September 3, 2020 at approximately 0331 hours the Port Orange Police Department was dispatched along with Port Orange Fire Rescue to 5348 Landis Ave in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, the residence was fully involved and one patient was found to have sustained injury. The patient was subsequently transported to Halifax Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During the onset of the investigation it was established the fire was suspicious in nature and the State Fire Marshall was contacted to assist. At this time the incident is believed to be a domestic violence related arson incident. The investigation into this matter is active and ongoing. Updates will be provided as they come available.

As a result of the investigation Port Orange Police Department Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Raymond J. Garneau, 51, of Port Orange. Garneau is currently wanted on the following charges:

  • Attempted Murder, Arson of an Occupied Dwelling,
  • Felony Domestic Battery,
  • Deprivation of Access to 911.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are actively looking to locate Garneau.
