PORT ORANGE MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ANIMAL CRUELTY

On July 30th, 2020 at approximately 0800hrs the Port Orange Police responded to a residence on Durant Dr. Port Orange, Florida in reference to a deceased dog.

Upon arrival the owner advised the 16-year-old Rat Terrier dog named, Buddy Boy appeared to have been beaten to death in the yard overnight. Officers examined the scene and the deceased dog, observing several abnormal injuries that are not consistent with a natural death. Officers did find blood and other evidence on the ground outside that was consistent with the injuries of Buddy Boy. Buddy Boy was secured and taken to Halifax Humane Society for a necropsy at a later time.

A male subject, 58-year-old Brian Batson, was arrested in Holly Hill at approximately 1630hrs for Aggravated Animal Cruelty of Buddy Boy and will be transported to the Volusia County Jail for processing.
