Three Arrested On Drug And Child Neglect Charges

THREE ARRESTED ON DRUG AND CHILD NEGLECT CHARGES 

            During the morning hours of June 22, 2018, a search warrant was served at the residence of 3809 Cherry Grove Ct. Port Orange, Florida by the Port Orange Detective Bureau. The search warrant was for narcotics, specifically methamphetamines after the Port Orange Narcotics unit investigated complaints of the drug activity. The search warrant was conducted with the assistance of the Volusia County Meth Response Team. The search did produce 2 grams of methamphetamine product and approximately 51 grams of methamphetamine oil. Two children ages 8 and 9 were removed from the home immediately and placed into the care of the Port Orange Police Victim’s Advocates and later turned over to DCF. The following residents were placed under arrest and transported to VCBJ criminally charged as follows:

Amber Cooney (09/03/1974) w, f, – Child neglect, possession of listed chemicals for manufacturing methamphetamine in a structure with children under the age of 16, culpable negligence, renting a structure to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

James Phillips (03/19/1958) w, m, - Manufacturing methamphetamine in a structure with children under the age of 16, culpable negligence, violation of probation, renting a structure to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Floyd Robert Phillips (08/01/1959) w, m, - Manufacturing methamphetamine in a structure with children under the age of 16, culpable negligence, violation of probation, renting a structure to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
