SCHOOL THREAT WRITTEN BY A 7-YEAR-OLD

The Port Orange Police Department has concluded its investigation regarding a threat of violence made at Horizon Elementary School on January 17^th, 2018. Through the course of our investigation, it was determined the threat was made by a 7 y/o who is a student at the school and that this incident is unrelated to the vandalism which occurred a few days prior. The student confessed to writing the threat and stated he did so as a prank. School administrators have suspended the student and the parents have been contacted. There will be no charges filed on the student.

At this time we do not believe there to be any safety concerns for the students, faculty, or administration of Horizon Elementary regarding the previously mentioned vandalism or the reported threat.
