LOWE'S HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE ROBBED

On July 5th, 2016 at approximately 12:36 PM, Orange City Police responded to Lowe’s Home Improvement store located at 901 Saxon Boulevard regarding a felony theft in progress. Once on scene, Lowe’s loss prevention advised arriving officers a suspect later identified as Robert Allen Lewis, (DOB 08-31-1988) attempted to steal several hundred dollars of tools.

Lewis passed all points of sale and was stopped by loss prevention concerning the theft. A brief struggle ensued between Lewis and the loss prevention employee. Although a weapon was not displayed, Lewis threatened to cut and stab the loss prevention employee. Lewis fled the store on foot towards the rear of the business.

Orange City officers set up a perimeter where Lewis entered the woods. With the assistance of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office helicopter unit and K-9 officers, Lewis was subsequently apprehended hiding in a wooded area behind Lowes. Lewis was placed under arrest by Orange City Police units without incident. A knife was found on his person.

He was transported to the Orange City Police Department for processing and subsequently to the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of; Robbery with a deadly weapon, Grand theft and Resisting a merchant. There were no injuries sustained in the incident.
