VSO Detectives, Parole/Probation Officers Check Sex Predators, Offenders on Halloween

Volusia sheriff’s detectives and state Parole and Probation officers checked more than 140 sexual offenders, sexual predators and felons who are prohibited from having any child contact to make sure they  followed the rules during Halloween celebrations on Sunday.

This operation continued throughout the evening across Volusia County to keep children safe. Under state law (Florida Statues 948.30), sexual predators/offenders may not participate by having lights on or decorations to attract or lure children to their home; wear costumes or hand out candy or toys.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) encourages families to research your neighborhoods to locate known residences of sexual predators or offenders living nearby. Go online to our home page: volusiasheriff.org/resources; you’ll find a section called Sex Offenders where we link to national and state offender registries, as well as Volusia County sex offender and criminal registration information.
