THREE PEOPLE ARRESTED AFTER CRASHING STOLEN VEHICLE
Three people have been arrested after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle Tuesday morning and later crashing into a semi-truck.
At about 4 a.m. Tuesday, DeLand Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a four door grey Toyota Corolla bearing Florida Tag DMUP33, for a traffic violation.
The vehicle failed to stop for the officers and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Woodland Boulevard from Plymouth Avenue toward International Speedway Boulevard.
The vehicle was later reported to have crashed into a T.G Lee Box truck at the intersection of Spring Garden Avenue and U.S. 92, causing major damage to both vehicles. Two of the three occupants in the Toyota fled the area on foot but were later apprehended with the assistance of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. The third subject was apprehended at the scene.
All three occupants were transported to the AdventHealth DeLand for the injuries suffered in the wreck.
The Toyota Corolla was reported stolen on July 6 from the Orlando area.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
