The pedestrian has been identified as John William Kaiser, 5/31/1964.

The man was a transient, though our records indicate most of his contacts with law enforcement personnel occurred in Daytona Beach.

DELAND POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL WRECK INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN

DeLand Police are investigating a Saturday night wreck that killed one pedestrian.

Police responded at 7:01 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of North Woodland Boulevard and Woodmont Road where a silver Honda van had struck a pedestrian.

According to a preliminary investigation, officers determined the van, which was being driven northbound, struck the pedestrian just south of the intersection.
