DELAND POLICE TO HOST NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

The public is invited to the DeLand Police Department’s National Night Out party.

From 5:45 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, residents are invited to the DeLand Police Department, 219 W. Howry Avenue, where police officers and firefighters will interact with residents. Some activities will include fingerprinting for children, fire extinguisher demonstrations, a mock crash assessment and rescue, Second Chance Kennel adoptions, K-9 demonstrations, face painting and much more. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office will also be represented at the event.

The event is free and food and refreshments will also be provided.

“National Night Out is a great opportunity for residents and officers to build relationships with the goal of eliminating crime in our community,” said Police Chief Jason Umberger. “Together, we can help make DeLand a safer place to live, work and play.”

The event will also serve as a showcase for the city’s departments, which will display some of the equipment used on a daily basis.

For more information, residents may call 386-626-7465.
