7-ELEVEN STORE ROBBED

DeLand Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an armed suspect who robbed a 7-Eleven store overnight.

Officers responded shortly before 3 a.m. Friday to the 7-Eleven at 1043 W. New York Avenue after employees say a suspect armed with a black handgun demanded money. The suspect then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen headed toward Spring Garden Avenue.

Officers and deputies setup a perimeter around the area and were assisted by the Volusia Sheriff’s Air One helicopter but were unable to locate the armed suspect.

The suspect, possibly white or Hispanic, was last seen wearing a semi-transparent hockey mask, dark blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the DeLand Police Department at 386-626-7400.
