‘OUR DELAND' APP TO LAUNCE THIS WEEK

Finding out about upcoming events in DeLand, getting updated on the latest news or requesting service for things like a pothole, cracked sidewalk or graffiti will soon be getting a lot easier.

Beginning Wednesday, the “Our DeLand” app will place city services and information at the fingertips of its users. The app, available for free on iPhone and Android devices, can be found by searching for “OurDeLand” in mobile app stores.

“As technology continues to advance, the City of DeLand wants to be responsive to that,” said City Manager Michael Pleus. “We feel this is another way for us to provide the best service to our residents.”

Powered by QScend Technologies, the Our DeLand app allows residents to file requests that will be forwarded to the appropriate department. The program will replace the Web Q&A function found on the city’s website where citizens currently log requests or concerns.

“Gone are the days when citizens would have to wait to report an issue, and forget about it because of a busy schedule,” said Keith LeBeau, president and CEO of QScend Technologies. “Whether input by staff or by citizen, a request in QAlert never falls through the cracks.”

Another feature also allows users to view a list of upcoming events and keep up with the latest city news. The Our DeLand app also connects people to the city’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
