MAN KILLED AT SHORES HOTEL IN BACKPAGE.COM MEETUP

Officers of the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety responded to a disturbance at the Lexington Inn and Suites, 2323 South Atlantic Avenue, around 4:20 a.m. October 15th. Upon arrival they found Steven A. Clark, 32, on the sixth floor bleeding form a single stab wound to the chest.  Resuscitative efforts were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

Investigators determined that the decedent had accompanied Amy Francesca Stefani, 31, of New Smyrna Beach, to the hotel. Stefani had arranged to meet Alfonso Echevarria in his sixth floor room through Backpage.com. Once inside the room, Stefani brandished a knife and robbed Echevarria.  Echevarria was able to disarm Stefani who fled the room. Clark then entered the room and attacked Echevarria who in turn used Stefani’s knife to stab him.

Clark fled the room and collapsed before reaching a nearby elevator. That is where officers found, and attempted to treat him.

Stefani, who was taken into custody at the scene, had an open warrant in reference to failure to appear for prostitution. She is also being charged with armed robbery and felony 2nd degree murder.  She was transported the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond.
