Autism Decal Program
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is proud to offer all residents of Volusia County the opportunity to display an “Occupant With Autism” decal on their home or vehicle.
This program, available to all city residents as well as those living in unincorporated Volusia County, is intended to help alert first responders to the possible presence of someone with autism who may not react or respond to questions or verbal commands in the same way as others.
In addition to the “Occupant With Autism” decal, voluntary registration in this program allows our Communications Center to enter a caution flag on the home address you provide.
Once that flag is entered, any call for service at your address will generate a notification for responding units that someone with autism may be present. These notifications will be visible not only to sheriff’s deputies and city police, but to all first responders from city and county public safety agencies.
Volusia Sheriff’s Office deputies continue to receive special training on best strategies and approaches for law enforcement encounters with people on the autism spectrum.
Please fill out the form below to participate. If you have any questions about this program, please email us at CommunityRelations@volusiasheriff.gov.
