Christy Sturrup

Captain Christy Sturrup brings over two decades of experience to the Volusia Sheriff's Office. Throughout her career, has held numerous key positions, including Youth Services Commander (Captain), Youth Services Assistant Commander (Lieutenant), School Resource Officer Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, Senior Deputy Sheriff, Field Training Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, and Patrol Deputy.
 
Captain Christy Sturrup holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Keiser University. She also played a pivotal role in developing the Florida School Safety Specialist Handbook which encompasses "The Sturrup Standards," an initiative aimed at establishing comprehensive guidelines for safer and more secure K-12 school construction with minimal human intervention. These standards are expected to be adopted statewide, significantly enhancing school safety.
 
Captain Sturrup remains committed to continuing to improve school safety through collaboration, practical solutions, proactive prevention efforts, and the development of programs and initiatives to protect students, staff, and communities for generations to come.
