SEX OFFENDER RE-ARRESTED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEARCH WARRANT

A DeLand-area man who was arrested in 2020 on a litany of disturbing charges in Deltona has been arrested again and faces new charges.

Joshua Jobe, 24 (DOB 8/20/1999), a registered sex offender on sex offender probation, was charged this week with 50 new counts related to images of children discovered on his phone.

The new charges stem from an April 7 traffic stop just after midnight in DeLand, where deputies spotted Jobe operating a bicycle without a light as required by law.

During the stop, Jobe provided a false name and was taken into custody for that offense, as well as violation of probation.

It was later discovered he had slipped off his ankle monitor, so he was additionally charged with tampering with an electronic monitoring device.

During the stop, Jobe had a cell phone with him. A stipulation of his sex offender probation was no smart phones, and no access to the Internet. Detectives drafted a search warrant for the phone and found 4 Internet accounts that were unregistered with the Sheriff's Office, so Jobe was charged with 4 counts of failure to properly register as a sex offender.

The search warrant and forensic examination of the phone also revealed explicit images of children, as well as indications he was looking to find more explicit material involving both children and animals that is too graphic to describe here.

Jobe is now being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
